The restoration of the famous Hydro Majestic Hotel at Medlow Bath will continue the spirit and vision of Mark Foy, when he began the creation of his dream on the Medlow cliff face over a century ago.

The Hydro Majestic is not only a vast hotel, stretching more than 1.1 kilometres across the escarpment; it is also a vibrant part of Australian history and an iconic symbol of the Blue Mountains for generations.

A team of highly revered heritage experts, architecture specialists and designers have been enlisted, with particular weight given to examining and respecting the Hydro Majestic’s social history and heritage. The plans add the 21^stCentury layer, mindful of the past, but always with a vision of the future.

The project will be carried out in two stages with the first due for completion early 2014, and accommodation following in approximately 2 years.

Stage one will include the revitalisation of the majority of the existing buildings including the Casino Building, The Wintergarden, The Flying Fox Room and The Cat’s Alley, The Delmonte Building and Conference Rooms and The Majestic Ballroom. This famous and fondly remembered space will have a beautiful new Lobby and pre-function area and will also include a large garden reception terrace.

A new entry to the hotel at the Katoomba end of the site will provide extensive public areas including the Majestic Point Lookout, The Boilerhouse and the new Mark Foy Pavilion. The pavilion will reflect the flavour of the old Royal Easter Shows, incorporating an interactive history environment and a major regional epicurean providores: “The Taste of The Blue Mountains”. Luxury conference, business and events centre, exhibition spaces, tours, cafe and food spaces, landscaped gardens and extensive car and coach parking.

In stage one of the project the Belgravia Wing will house the Hotel Management Institute, an elite hospitality training school where students will learn unrivalled service at the Hydro Majestic and Luxury Collection Resorts, Lilianfels and Echoes.

Following in stage two will be the new accommodation facilities, including 140 exquisite suites with commanding views over the valley and an expansive and luxurious Spa facility with pools and treatment rooms that will be unrivalled in Australia.

Following a time of economic downturn this is a committed and confident investment in the value of the Blue Mountains and Tourism in NSW. The Hydro Majestic will be an international landmark, delivering prosperity to The Blue Mountains and continuing its history and mythology for generations to come.
